Product Compliance – Certificate of Conformity (CoC)
Meeting product compliance requirements is important for accessing regulated markets. A PCoC, also known as a Product Certificate of Conformity, is a document that confirms a product has been independently verified against technical regulations and standards enforced by the destination country. It is usually required at the point of import. Customs and regulatory authorities in KSA commonly check this document to determine whether or not the document is in accordance with the technical regulations of Saudi Arabia under the SASO authority.
Understanding Product CoC and Compliance Requirements
The CoC ensures that a product meets the safety, performance, and quality benchmarks set by regulators. This generally consists of document reviews, conformity assessments, and testing and factory audit, where required to prove that the product meets applicable standards.
Obtain a product CoC for each regulated product / HS codes and a Shipment CoC for each shipment of regulated products to avoid customs delays, rejections, or compliance disputes.
The required documentation typically includes technical specifications, test reports, proof of compliance, product labeling information, and shipment details for the issuance of the Shipment Certificate of Conformity (SCoC). Incomplete documentation is one of the most frequent grounds for non-compliance. This requirement spans industries such as electronics, machinery, textiles, cosmetics, building materials, toys, and chemical products.
